An unintended parody of early nineties B thrillers
Let no lesbian white trash donor destroy the nuclear family, ever! This movie is an unintended parody of early nineties B thrillers.

Complete and utter sh*t.

And I'm not just attempting to pad the comment with junk words here.

I mean it.
Like a Lifetime movie but with Nic Cage
This is a Lifetime style thriller with slightly better photography and direction and it has Nicholas Cage. The story is about average Lifetime psycho standard - not better not worse. So it's not too bad a watch.

The title is a pun on the word. Or it could be called crazy egg donor. Gina Gershon plays an older doctor with fertility problems. She has a kid with an egg donor. Nicholas Cage plays her husband. She befriends another young mother whose daughter and hers become friends. Unknown to her she is actually the egg donor and goes around checking how her babies are being raised and if she isn't happy she gets dangerous. The story mostly checks out but it kind of is rather lame how she would invite such a pretty woman to stay in her guesthouse.

OK watch if you don't expect feature film standards.
Truly inconceivable
The most inconceivable thing about this film is somebody having such an incredibly flat stomach and being so mobile right after having a C-section. In all seriousness, this absurdity is something that needs to be addressed in the film industry but there we go...

Otherwise, the story is interesting enough, relatively slow-paced (running time needn't have been so long - not that it was long, but it was too long for what this film is). There were unnecessary sub-plots.

Acting was OK, Nicky Whelan is used to doing over-the-top dramatic plots from her time on Neighbours, so did perfectly well here. Why have an A-lister like NC involved? Why not, I suppose.

All in all, it was pretty meh. Another user likened it to a Lifetime movie and they hit the nail on the head. Lifetime movies are an occasional guilty pleasure of mine, so I finished the film more or less satiated. Just don't see Nick Cage's name and think you're getting a blockbuster.
Inconceivable truly shows the difference between parenting and parenthood.
Inconceivable was actually good.Acting was superb from Cage. His forte is technically found in drama.Although it didn't spark with the kind of fierce exchange between two ladies ironically marying one man.But the lesson is well learned.Actually there is a diachotomy between being a mother and mothering.7/10 is fair,Cage was superb, thats exactly what is expected from a man in such situation
Plot Twist saved the day
I wasn't really expecting that plot twist at the end of the movie!!! The movie's pacing was really slow and I think some parts of it was unnecessary. The ending was really good and it really gets everyone's attention. Looking forward to a spin-off or possibly a sequel??? I think Jonathan Baker did OK for a first timer, but there are rooms for improvement.
Inconceivably a superb movie!
If you are into Unforgettable, Hand that Rocks the Cradle, When the Bow Breaks types of movies, then this one is a must for you! Good story- line and very good acting, especially by Gina Gershon who in fact in my opinion out-shined Cage by far. Pretty impressive performance by Nicky Whelan too for her convincing performance of her movie character. And it was a joy to see Faye Dunaway too still in the business. I highly recommend this movie.
Well-intended thriller falls flat
As "Inconceivable" (2017 release; 105min.) opens, we see a black-haired woman (whom we later learn is Katie) kill her husband as he tries to stop her and her baby from leaving the house. We then get to know Angela and Brian, a married couple who are delighted to have a young daughter, as Angela had a tough pregnancy. One day, Angela and Katie (now blond-haired) get to know each other when both of their daughters are playing on the playground, It's not long before Angela and Katie become close friends, along with Linda, another friend of Katie's. What will become of these ladies? and the little girls? To tell you more of the plot would spoil your viewing experience, you'll just have to see for yourself how it all plays out.

Couple of comments: I admit not having heard about either director Jonathan Baker or writer Chloe King before. This may or may not have been their first movie. Either way, they attempt to bring us a thriller, but alas fail badly. When the Big Twist comes about 40 min. into the movie (no worries, I won't spoil), it is so laughably bad, I just shook my head and whispered "really?" to myself. As to the acting, Nicolas Cage once used to be a wonderful actor. Remember those days? Well, they are LONG behind us. Here, it looks as if Cage is sleepwalking throughout most of the movie, I mean, he looks outright annoyed at doing this role. Next, Fay Dunaway (yes, THE Fay Dunaway) has a minor and utterly forgettable (and frankly unnecessary for the plot) role as Cage's mom. Gina Gershon as Cage's wife is the best of the lot. Katie is played by Australian actress Nicky Whaley, who looks uncannily like Reese Witherspoon. If I sound too negative about the movie, I will admit that the lat 20 min. or so, when all plays out and is revealed, carried my interest. But that pay-off was too little, too late for me. Last but certainly not least, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the entire movie was filmed right here in Cincinnati (where I live). There was some buzz in the city about this when the movie was shot here last year.

"Inconceivable" was released nationally this weekend. It opened on exactly one screen for all of Greater Cincinnati, one! Because I knew it was filmed here, I just had to check it out. The Sunday early evening screening where I saw this at turned out to be a private screening. I was literally the only person in the theater. I can't image this will play more than a week or two in theaters (it's already available on VOD). All that aside, I cannot recommend this movie in good conscience, sorry. Viewer beware!
Suspenseful & Intense!
I was on edge the entire time while watching Jonathan Baker's "Inconceivable". From the trailer to the end credits, I left a lamp on during the viewing so the suspense wouldn't be too intense. A job well done by writer Chloe King (no relation to reviewer Erin King). What a great cast! Gina Gershon is always such a badass! Nicolas Cage shows his sensitive side which is such a turn on. Faye Dunaway plays the overbearing mother-in-law perfectly. And the smoldering, Nicky Whelan, WOW, so sexy and psychotic at the same time!
Homage to "The Hand that Rocks the Cradle"
Chloe King and Jonathan Baker's 2017 thriller "Inconceivable" is a blast from the past. It harks back to Amanda Silver and Curtis Hanson's masterful 1992 thriller, "The Hand that Rocks the Cradle".

Even the casting is reminiscent of the earlier film. Nicky Whelan, the blonde "Nanny from Hell" in "Inconceivable" is at times the spitting image of the Rebecca De Mornay in THTRTC. Gina Gershon, the dark complexioned brunette, as the dutiful wife, likewise resembles Annabella Sciorra, her counterpart in the earlier film.

"Inconceivable" cannot compare with "The Hand that Rocks the Cradle" of course. But on its own terms, it holds up reasonably well, especially in 2017, when so many films this year have been flat out unwatchable.
