Reviews
A lot more fun than I expected
And far better than it had any right to be. Helped a lot by Stephen Yuen, who damn well ought to be in a lot more movies. Samara Weaving (very good in Netflix' "The Baby-Sitter") adds a lot to the film as well.

Think of it as a grind-house Office Space, and you won't go wrong. Lots of blood, profanity, and (oddly enough) the slightest touches of profundity.

Don't expect anything more than over-the-top violence, weird laughs, and blistering payback and you'll have a good, if low-brow time.

Half decent
This film begins with the premise there is a virus which causes the infected to lose inhibitions and act on their worst impulses... becoming feral in effect. The beginning graphics even depict this quite clearly, however mostly the mayhem is in the periphery while conveniently suspended for our leads as and when it suits so the story can develop. This has been done rather clumsily and the film is interspersed with oddities that for the most part you can ignore as it eventually becomes apparent that satire (which often descends to comedy) is the theme here.

This film is in a bit of a 'no man's land' in what it is trying to depict and that was a bit of stickler for me. I found it difficult to get into even as I watched and enjoyed much of what was unfolding on screen. Baring in mind I'd never heard of it, and didn't know what to expect, it took me a while to relax and enjoy it. Don't get me wrong, I get it that films can 'morph' into something weird, unexpected and even fantastic and I often enjoy that, but this one did have me confused given the opening sequence and that didn't play well for my experience initially.

OK that said its fairly entertaining if you view it as intended, which isn't too seriously. The plot could do with a little work, and actually even the script is just a little too cartoonish even for satire. It's also fairly crass in places just for good measure but actually it still works reasonably.

To be fair nothing is terrible in this production. There were some capable actors here and I won't say the direction is bad, but I did get the impression the actors seemed at odds with what they are doing some of the time.

Its a reasonable sized production and even though I came away thinking, 'that wasn't half bad' and I did enjoy it, I can't help feeling cheated by the well worn plot and threadbare characters recycled from so many films before it. It was just too clichéd, and some originality would have been better served, especially since I think that was originally proposed with the opening scenes.

Well, would I recommend it? yes, its a half decent excursion into something very entertaining and I don't want to be unnecessarily critical. Its a reasonable watch on a Friday night but I still think a 6/10 is as fair as I can be.

surprising fun
Despite his better hopes, Derek Cho (Steven Yeun) has climbed the corporate ladder to be a soulless lawyer. Ewan Niles (Mark Frost) is his hippie mentor. Melanie Cross (Samara Weaving) pretends to be a lawyer to buy time from her bank foreclosure. Derek kicks her out. He gets framed by The Siren (Caroline Chikezie) and The Boss (Steven Brand) tells him to throw himself on top of the figurative grenade. The Nine board led by Irene Smythe (Kerry Fox) accepts The Boss' findings. The Reaper (Dallas Roberts) from HR executes the firing. Before Derek gets thrown out, SWAT arrives to quarantine the building. The office has been contaminated with a virus which unleashes the person's darkest impulses. It becomes non-stop mayhem. The Bull (André Eriksen) is muscle for The Boss.

Steven Yeun's leading man charisma is still in doubt but he makes for a fine worker drone. This is surprisingly fun despite its inherent camp. The premise is simple B-movie and it fits the style. There are some knowing jokes and some of them do actually work. It's both a fun satire of the modern workplace and a Die-Hard, The-Raid thriller. The lack of romantic chemistry between Derek and Melanie does hold this back some. They are awkwardly platonic together and any hookup is weird. Maybe it's the virus. Overall, there is some fun to be had.

quick start.....Dull finish...
The movie starts with a good activity and sudden accidents. An unknown virus spreads quickly across a office and along the virus the movie kicks off very quickly with some real firework..all the events occurred within first hour of the movie..all with great pace and creates much much interest in the mind of audience..

But soon the diversity of action and thoughts diminishes..chaos and violence begins to take the upperhand..More and more ordinary killing scenes appears..scenes of flesh and blood.. many will find them intolerable..hence the movie loses it's track.

Towards the end some glimps of brightness and good climax arrives..But not enough to really surprise the audience..

But if we see overall composer of it then we find this excellent start is neutralized by the sudden drop at the end. Still it remains in the positive marking. If we substract the bad and good of this film the answer will be + . so i suggest you to see the film and make your own rating

Garbage. Don't waste your time.
It moves slow, cursing is not dialog.

I have read comic books that can boast more talent than this waste of time. I sooner sit through Spiderman IIV with Toby McGuire than watch the remaining 70 minutes.

Mayhem must have been written by a mentally disturbed adolescent.

10 times better version of Belko Experiment
If you've seen the Belko Experiment, then you already have an idea of what to expect in this movie only that it's way better in terms of story, plot and acting.

One of the things I really loved is that the cause of the mayhem is a virus which is more realistic than explosive chips put in the skulls of co-workers of a firm who were ordered to kill each other by a mystery voice (Belko Experiment). This makes the violence and chaos more enjoyable. Plus it's not all about violence, though majorly violence. I also feel the corporate environment was better portrayed here.

So if you're looking for an action movie with lots of blood, suspense and little hints of comedy, you can give this a shot. It is very enjoyable from beginning to end.

Fantastic Film. Pure enjoyment.
Just saw this at the Fantasia film festival last night and loved every second. A humour-filled, ultra-violent movie which skewers corporate office life -often literally. For anyone who has ever worked in a cubicle or hated their boss. Brilliantly funny and gory in equal amounts. So glad I went!

Terrible
About as complex, subtle and creative as a punch in the face. There really wasn't any part of the narrative that wasn't a cliché and/or ridiculous. Some bad films manage to entertain you but this didn't even do that for me - the narrative was just so poorly constructed and the dialogues and voice-over were awful (hint: huge amounts of exposition).

I didn't like the cinematography, the blocking and the mise-en-scene - there's no artistry or purpose. Same thing with the performances: so over the top and phony (I'd say the script and the director have a lot do do with this; Steven Yeun is a lot better in The Walking Dead).

The result is probably the worst movie I've ever seen.

disgusting movie
0ne of the worst movie I've ever seen. Bad dialogues, Bad actors, very bad paid scenario. I think the writers and director have not enough experience to make this. Emotions are not motivated, There is no any film-necessary passion and the story is far from the mind. Most of actors play so bad.

Brilliant, Exciting, Bloody Good Fun
The perfect film for a lazy Sunday afternoon. I happen led upon this film today while looking for something interesting to watch. At first I was initially skeptical when reviewing the trailer and description. I was happy to see it staring Steven Yuen and Walking Dead Alumnus, Dallas Roberts aka Milton. But I feared this would probably suck as so many films staring former movie favorites do with type casting. Yet it I held out hope and boy I wasn't disappointed. Good to see Steven Yuen land on his feet in a starring role since his character Glenn got Lucille'd. What I found delightful was the excellent writing, gore, acting an social commentary. Who hasn't felt like punching your boss in the face. Yes the premise for the virus is a bit overblown and unrealistic, but who cares. The story carries well and it's fun to watch. We've all seen or had management types like those in real life, and it's the workers who suffer. Anyhow it was good to see they didn't try to rip off TWD, except for one part where someone's says a TWD famous painted statement. Fans will know it instantly when you hear it. I loved all the violence and gore scenes. Tastefully done without going overboard. Funny as hell with the banter between the characters. What's not to like here. Yes the ending was a bit anticlimactic but didn't ruin the film by any means. Overall it was just a joyful way to spend the afternoon. BTW, I don't get all the trolls on IMDb. The movie wasn't trying to win an Oscar. Honestly some folks have no life and just look for any shady reason to complain or criticize to be relevant. Good luck with that and just enjoy the show.
