No
This is not your father's Spiderman, nor your father's Peter Parker. This is not Stan Lee's or Steve Ditko's Spiderman either, although Stan does make his expected cameo... and I expect will be cashing a fat royalty check any day now.

And this sure as hell is not anyone's Aunt May. (Can I just say how great it is to see Marisa Tomei, whom I have always had a crush on... but not as Aunt May. Come on already.)

I cannot accept a Peter Parker who is not capable of making his own suit. I cannot accept a Peter Parker who is so in awe of any other super hero as this one is in awe of Tony Stark. I cannot accept a Peter Parker who has a pudgy side kick. No Jonah Jameson? No Daily Bugle?

Why did Marvel Studios feel like it had to remake so many of the basic elements of Peter's story? The Lee/Ditko creation was pretty successful, don't you think?

Yes, the screenplay otherwise was well written. Yes, Tom Holland plays an excellent Peter/Spidey. Yes, Michael Keaton was great as the Vulture. And the effects were as they should be. So I give four stars out of ten for the four things that were right about this picture.

Too many things wrong with the overall vision of Marvel Studio's Spiderman. Sony and Sam Raimi got it right, especially in the second film with Doc Ock. Now THAT was the Peter/Spidey Stan and Steve created.

How could Marvel Studios fail so badly with Marvel Comics' number one property?

A 'spectacular' Spider-Man movie that proves that Spider-Man's still got it.
Jon Watts (Director of Clown and Cop Car) perfects the character and charm of Spider-Man that we all love from the comics without doing disservice to either fans of both the Raimi and Amazing Spider-Man franchises with a fun superhero movie oozing with joy with its great cast and characters, big and small, as well as an 'amazing' performance from Tom Holland who brilliantly combines what Maguire and Garfield brought to the character by truly demonstrating the differences and similarities between the awkward nerd Peter Parker and the quippy crime fighting Spider-Man. The film also gives many critics of Marvel's lack of great villains what they want most, a relatable villain that is as, if not more, interesting than the hero itself and not only is great adversary physically but also psychologically and we see this with Michael Keaton's excellent portrayal of the Vulture. What Spider-Man: Homecoming does best, however, is its attention to detail and world building put into the town of Queens, which feels more real and believable than any other fictional world we have seen in the MCU, making Spider-Man: Homecoming one of the best chapters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and another great example for future superhero movies to learn from.

Spidey done right!
"Spider-Man: Homecoming" is the newest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and a much needed Spider-Man reboot after the mess that the "Amazing Spider-Man" series were. This movie is actually a tie with Raimi's "Spider-Man 2" for the best movie based on the character and Tom Holland, after this movie and his debut in last year's "Civil War" is easily the best on-screen Spidey.

What I loved about this film is that it manages to introduce us to Peter Parker without showing us things that we know from all his previews movies. And if you don't think that's great enough, prepare for a funny, lighthearted, surprising, easter-egg filled, action-packed, stunning Summer blockbuster.

It's also one of those rare comic book movies that the villain doesn't feel wasted, thanks to Michael Keaton's flawless performance. The rest of the cast does a great job too - with Zendaya being a standout, to my surprise.

To conclude, I believe "Homecoming" is a nearly perfect adaptation of the beloved Web shooter with barely any flaws that every fan (and non-fan) should see.

"This is it! The Spider-Man movie I've been waiting for in years."
Wiithout a shadow of a doubt, this is the movie I've been waiting for in my whole life. Not just because he's my favorite superhero, it's because MCU has figure out what it takes to be the perfect spider-man film. I hope this new reboot will be consistent when it comes to storytelling and visual effects for future sequels. For those who haven't seen yet, go ahead and watch it! You will be amazed!

Corny
The movie wasn't just boring. It was also so corny. The girlfriend comes in far too soon in the movie. She immediately becomes the purpose for everything. At first, I thought for sure she was one of Obama's daughters. Very disappointing. It is a great movie for 6th and 7th graders. It was so juvenile it should have been in animation.

Simple yet effective. Spiderman 10/10
Honestly, getting someone to review this movie who has no understanding (from reading the review) of everything that went into making this movie, and what this movie actually has to offer is sad and a detriment to this movie by expressing opinions of something that the reviewer has no proper knowledge of.

Firstly you ask what went wrong for a reboot to be made. The Amazing Spider-Man is what was wrong, the mediocre pieced together story with a dark and depressing premise for a character that's meant to be light hearted, goofy and young. Getting a 30 year old Actor of Andrew Garfield to portray a young Peter Parker didn't gel at all.

Secondly Sony didn't want to continue with Andrew Garfield after the 2nd Spiderman movie and due to the licensing rights Sony made with Marvel (pre Disney Ownership) they have to make a Spiderman movie within so many years or they lose the rights which then go back to Marvel, now owned by Disney.

What transpired from this was Amy Pascal from Sony and Kevin Feige from Marvel coming to agreement as quoted "Sony has the rights, that's not changing. Have Sony pay for the movie, distribute the movie, market the movie. Just let us make the movie and incorporate him into our universe." and in doing so a reboot of Spiderman was born. I see no issue with this due to Marvels success so far with their franchise. Marvel gets the rights to all Spiderman Merchandise which they will make quite a bit of money on, also using Spiderman in their movies in which they keep the profits, and also Spiderman Homecoming 2 (probably not the name) will lead the MCU into Phase 4, which shows the commitment and investment from both sides to make this work.

In doing this Spiderman has a great mesh with the Marvel universe, and what comic book fans and Spiderman fans have always wanted since the The Amazing Spider-Man reboot wasn't that well received. In this movie there are so many Easter Eggs, from mention of Miles Morales ( Black/Latino Spiderman), brief showing of a possible Villain in Scorpion. The showing of the Prowler, Shocker, The Tinkerer and references to previous Marvel films.

If you wanted to go into this movie expecting a full on action and story-less movie and lots of spider-man flying through the city and saving the world, then you wont get this here. What will you get though is a great introduction to a character of Spider-man showing his true self as portrayed by the comic books, but not told the same old way, a fresh and dynamic approach to creating the character making us feel for the character, and showing that Spider-man doesn't have to save the world but still can make a difference and save the day even if the stakes aren't that high.

All in all I feel this movie has to be watched more than once to truly see and understand how brilliant a director Jon Watts is, and how he made a perfect comic book movie.

No,no,no,
This is what I was afraid of when Disney took over marvel,it should have been called Spider-Man,high school musical ,I know it,s comic-book movie ,but we came a long way to show that comics are not just for kids ,but this sets us back ,none of the characters are like they are in the comics ,Peter was a nerdy school kid but not like this ,flash was a big school bully ,but this flash is a wimp ,my grandmother could take him ,and aunt May is a hottie in this movie ,not the old caring aunt of the comics ,why ,why ,hope this is not a trend ,the suits sucks too.i know they are trying to hit a new up to date audience ,but really.good graphics and action but lame characters and story .guess I,m just getting old .

Plain Awful
Worst movie EVER!!!! I can't believe this is what people like. Zero stars for this garbage. The movie is plain, dull, boring, made no sense, weak story-line, characters were not likable, and too long. How long is this, because I was pulling on my hair! ALERT, BEYOND THIS POINT - "CONTAINS SPOILER" - Why does Spiderman throw bottled up web, that you can purchase through Ebay? Spiderman's body is suppose to make web naturally! Was this movie intended for 12 year old kids ONLY? I am not racist, but why was this movie turned into a Multiracial film? Enough with the White & Black couples!!! I don't like it at all, it's okay once in a while to see this, but this has gone overboard, there are White & Black couples in EVERY MOVIE NOW! Why in the world is Mary Jane Black???? What a turn off! I don't want to see this. Also, why, why, why there always has to be a comment about Black people "that black slaves build the Washington Monument???" WHY! I don't give a damn who built it, or anything else that was build, whether it was by Chinese people, Latinos, Americans, Indians, Egyptians, just stop with the slave comments! Moving on: all the action scenes were boring, and made no sense what so ever. Honestly I hate this film, and won't recommend to watch it. Waste of time, and money. And for any haters out there - Let me tell you, THIS MOVIE SUCKED BIG TIME, NO MATTER WHAT YOU SAY!!!!

A Modern and Funny Adaptation of our Favorite Web-Head Hero!!!
Several months after the events of Captain America: Civil War, Peter Parker, with the help of his mentor Tony Stark, tries to balance his life as an ordinary high school student in Queens, New York City while fighting crime as his superhero alter ego Spider-Man as a new threat, the Vulture, emerges. Spider-Man: Homecoming is what a 2nd reboot should look and feel like and personally as much as i liked those 'Amazing Spider-Man' Movies i would definitely pick this one over those 2 films. Tom Holland's portrayal is a little bit more closer to the comics from tone, to humor to everything plus every time he goes to School and he does things like talking to Ned about building the Lego Death Star or about Spider-Man and basically nerd stuff or school stuff you as a viewer you can relate to this kid and i found myself relate to Peter Parker he is a nerd, he is awkward and makes other people around him either mad or just makes them laugh. Now the important stuff about Homecoming is if the villain is actually you know? good? Well i'll tell you this The Vulture is not just a great villain but the best one so far just those 5 first minutes of the film make total sense of why this guy chose the crime life and why it's important for him to succeed his mission plus Michael Keaton once again he knocked it out of the park he was an amazing Batman, an amazing Birdman and now an amazing Vulture i mean the guy delivers a great performance in everything that he does plus he is the only actually scary looking villain of the Entire MCU, Shocker is also in the film but he doesn't get to do much i guess we will see more of him in the Near Future so just relax it's still way early to judge him, Flash Thompson was also quite good and Tony Revolori really surprised me a lot cause i was very much against that casting at first but i was very blown away by the guy i mean it's a different Spider-Man so we need a different Flash too right? Another actor that surprised me as well was Marisa Tomei as Aunt May and sure she is very young to play the part but do you honestly really care at this point? You just want to see every single character get justice and you do get that. Jacob Batalon and Zendaya also surprised me a lot and they were both super funny especially Jacob some of his lines are super funny. Laura Harrier who plays Liz also portrays the character in a different way and personally i did liked her a lot as Peter's Girlfriend. Iron Man and Happy also make a return and their just as good as they where back in 2008 when we first met them because let's face it there's no way that RDJ can disappoint as Iron Man and then we have our breaking star Tom Holland a.k.a Peter Parker/Spider-Man this kid was just terrific and full of so much freaking energy and he does portray Spidey in a great way it's also way more modern and different than the previous 2 versions and that doesn't mean it's a bad thing he delivers the humor, the action and the drama in a great way and that has to do with the excellent team behind this MCU Film. In the end i was very much blown away by Spider-Man: Homecoming it was everything i wanted it to be and even more plus there's some great twists and turns along the way that i think die hard fans of the Franchise will love. Many critics did say that this is the 'Best Spider-Man Yet' and although i do agree in some parts i still think that Maguire's and Raimi's Spider-Man Trilogy was a bit better than this film but for a 2nd reboot and a Marvel film this is definitely on my Top 3 easily and i really can't wait for Spider-Man 2.

GO SPIDER-MAN!!!!!!!!!

The humiliation of my favorite hero
Only one good thing in the movie. And that thing was the Vulture. Michael Keaton did a great job. Before the movie even aired i was worried that the way Vulture looked that it would end up being one of the negative things of the movie. I was wrong. Vulture was a well written villain and in fact the only well written character of the entire movie. He had a good motive and he was skilled at his job {which was stealing and making weapons}. So congratulations to Keaton for doing a great job at bringing this villain to the big screen.

Now on the negatives. To sum these up i will say that every single character in the movie besides Vulture was terrible. Lets examine each one:

a)Flash. He is supposed to be a bully. However this version of Flash is very weak. As far as strength goes he isn't superior than any of the other normal characters. He is rich. But that's just about it. He doesn't bully with violence. He bullies with insults and juvenile jokes. He is a jerk yet no one puts him in his place. In fact for some reason despite his annoying attitude he is social and is easily tolerated by the other characters who don't seem bothered by the fact that he constantly calls one of their friends Penis Parker. If something similar was done towards me or a friend of mine i wouldn't go near that bully/punk. But no one else is bothered by this. Unrealistic character level over 9000.

c)MJ. So the creators of this movie wanted to show something different from the other Spider-Man movies. So they didn't want to have Mary Jane or Gwen as Peter Parkers love interest. Personally i had no problem with that. HOWEVER. The fact that they called the character of Michelle MJ which is how Mary Jane is often referred to in the Spider-Man universe clearly shows that the creators tricked us with an illusion. Not wanting to copy Mary Jane but no issue using MJ.....what a lame trick. Not much to tell about her character. She just hangs around. I didn't like her view on the Washington monument cause it was clearly an obvious attempt by the creators to push a political agenda down our throats and the fact that at some point she waved at one of the characters with a middle finger for no reason.

d)Peters best friend. Simply terrible best friend. Instead of supporting Peter and agreeing to help him keep the secret or even asking him why he is doing all of this he encourages Peter to reveal the secret to everyone and to actually use it to impress girls. Really??? You find out that your best friend risks his life stopping thugs equipped with alien tech and you encourage him to reveal his identity to everyone??? g)Tony Stark/Iron Man. How the mighty have fallen. I remember when i first saw the Iron Man movie. It was a very good movie and the portrayal of Tony Stark/Iron Man was simply great. Tony was always a arrogant no doubt about that. But he always knew where to draw the line. At least he knew in Iron Man and in the first Avengers movie. After that Tony Stark is constantly being portrayed as an arrogant jerk who thinks he towers above all. And in this movie we see this a lot. He considers himself to be the elite. He also acts high and mighty and sidelines Spider-Man all the time. Question. You gave a 15 year old teenager a high tech suit and invited him in a brawl against Avengers. And after that you just tell him to go home and wait for a phone call. Tonys stupidity level=over 9000. When SM informs him about the alien tech all he does is call the FBI. Really? Alien tech and all you do Tony is call the FBI? You could have at least assisted the FBI with catching the criminals since they had a freaking Vulture on their side! But no. Tony is being a jerk.

h)Peter Parker/Spider-MAN. Worst character of the movie. Completely immature with zero sense of responsibility. Lets start with the motivations. We know that Spider-Man wants to help those in need because he feels guilty and responsible for the death of his uncle Ben. A death that he had the power to prevent but didn't want the responsibility. THAT HOWEVER IS NOT THE CASE IN THIS MOVIE. In this movie Peter Parker is being Spider-Man cause he wants to draw the attention of the Avengers and to impress Tony Stark enough to join them. In the process he reveals his identity to his best friend and aunt May {by lame accident in both cases}, endangers revealing his identity in public by taking an alien rock in his school and analyzing it while the classroom is full and there is a lesson going on, casually allows the move of that alien rock even though he knows nothing about its properties which results in the near death of his friends, messes around with his suit while on the field {where one mistake can cost your life}, starts a fight with criminals in a ship in the middle of the sea while the ship is full of civilians which results in him detonating a weapon and nearly killing everyone, destroys a lot of civilian property, blows a recon mission cause he lets his cell phone on and he also steals a car. This isn't a hero. This isn't a young teen on his way to become one either. This is a terribly written teenager with zero sense of responsibility. And his skills? Only enhanced reflexes and wall crawling. No spider sense and basically his suit does everything. This isn't Spider-Man.
